What is the deal with this?

Lets be honest. We are the truest kind of BFFs. We met at Girls' Camp 1996 in St. Lou, survived high school and 2 years as roommates at BYU. Now, we find ourselves BOTH in NYC, which rocks, and as we contemplated how we should spend quality BFF time together - the answer seemed obvious. We must beebop the boroughs in matching purple hats every Saturday morning. Holla!

31: Best of the Upper West Side

Hi friends, if any of you are still out there. No, we aren't resuming the bee-bop blog, but I was feeling nostalgic today and came poking around, only to realize we had an unposted walk! The upper west side was my neighborhood for almost 4 years, so these are some of my favorite spots in NYC. I didn't write captions for everything, but all these pictures are on the west side between about 71st St. and 90th St. Enjoy!

Too many peanut butters.  Zabar's was the first grocery store I ever stepped into when I moved to NYC, and I had no idea what I was walking into.  Imagine my distress when I could not find a jar of Skippy and had to choose a brand of peanut butter that was handmade by monks or something crazy.  I did love Zabar's, but not for my everyday shopping.

world's best cream puff at Beard Papa's - I could really go for one of these right about now

oh, Gray's.  I miss your recession special.  If you are visiting NYC, please do not by a hot dog on the street.  Go to 72nd Street and get two hot dogs and a pina colada drink.  Do not share with a friend.  You'll want to eat both.  Also, stop in before 11am for the world's most perfect breakfast sandwich.  I'm feeling hungry.

Levain Bakery on 74th - get the double chocolate peanut butter masterpiece and thank me later

I wish I still lived in a neighborhood with a sharpening truck - my sewing shears need a spruce
Allan & Suzi on 80th and Amsterdam - my neighbor all my years in NYC.  I loved looking at the eclectic window displays, but never had the courage to go inside (which is ridiculous, looking back on it).

Love this post, some great finds! We're so glad to see H&H Bagels in the Upper West Side. We recently did a blog post on the best restaurants in the UWS, and they were one of our picks!
